Founded in 2012 as AIMStudios of Virginia, The Institute for Fashion Media began as a commercial portrait studio. A lifelong interest in fashion led the founder, Allen H. Moore, to specialize in photographing women’s fashion.
In 2016, Allen began a collaboration with famed European photographer Dan Hostettler as a contributing author to Dan’s online enterprise, StudioPrague.com. As StudioPrague’s focus is on photography education, Allen decided to do likewise and renamed the company as The Institute for Fashion Media, LLC. to better identify the company’s mission to serve as an educational resource for fashion merchandisers.
Today, the commercial division of The Institute produces media content such as line sheet illustration, lookbook and catalog photography, as well as editorial content for publication. The education division provides training for photographers, models, stylists, and merchandisers to produce effective and impactful fashion media content through both workshops and individual instruction.
An emerging trend in the fashion media industry led to the creation of another division, IFM Films. While still photography will always have a place in fashion media, the online world has fully embraced video as a communication tool of choice. IFM Films is well-positioned to serve this market with a fully-equipped video studio.
